Our Vision
Eliminating barriers, creating safe spaces, and empowering youth with a sense of stability.
We strive to make The Landing Youth Centre a place to call home.
The Landing Youth Centre is a community hub serving vulnerable youth and their families in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and Grandview-Woodland neighbourhoods.
We provide all-round support, programs, and services to youth and their families. We work to eliminate barriers, create safe spaces, and empower youth with a sense of stability.
Our
History
2009
Face of Today was founded by Kasondra Cohen-Herrendorf. Kasondra had a passion to “provide youth with resources, different avenues of expression, a community where they felt safe, and could access no matter their background, their means or where they come from.”
2019
Face of Today’s resource centre was opened in Gastown to provide partner programming in arts, fitness and wellness to vulnerable youth. This allowed a space for Face of Today to welcome community partners 6 nights a week to offer youth programming in a safe, inclusive environment.
2025
Face of Today relaunches as The Landing Youth Centre – a name that reflects both our roots and our future. In partnership with the Herrendorf Family Foundation, we move into a purpose-built facility in Grandview-Woodlands, uniquely designed to deepen our wraparound model and expand our capacity to serve referred youth and families across East Vancouver.
Our Values
We listen closely to needs
Everyone deserves a space where their voice is heard. Listening closely to the needs of our youth involves tuning in not just to their words, but to their emotions, experiences, and aspirations. It's about creating a space where young people feel heard, understood, and respected.
We point to hope and potential
Pointing to the hope and potential of our youth involves recognizing their strengths, dreams, and capabilities. It's about inspiring optimism and confidence in their ability to create positive change and achieve their goals.
We partner with the community
Partnering with the community represents a collaborative approach to addressing the needs of our youth, but it also represents increased program effectiveness, sustainability, resource sharing, and the development of trust. Partnership ensures our programs stay relevant, sustainable, and genuinely responsive to the community we serve.
We’re with you for the long haul
Committing to being with our youth for the long haul means that we hold a genuine belief in the inherent worth, capabilities, and potential of every young person. We are committed to helping them navigate the transitions of life - a support that is crucial during times of change and uncertainty.
