Holiday Meals

Providing hot meals at youth programs is not just about addressing immediate hunger but also about promoting health, fostering community, and supporting the overall well-being and development of our youth.

The Landing provides nutritious meals at all our programming, as well as unlimited snacks for our participants to keep them fuelled and focused.

Last year, we served over 7,000 meals and 20,000 snacks, ensuring no young person in our programs went hungry.

Holiday Meals

In an effort to support our youth and families at home, we provide monthly grocery gift cards to 20 families who have been nominated through our Wrap Around Support program throughout the school year. During the Holiday season, we expand that reach to 100+ families over the Holiday season through our Holiday Hamper Program.

These gift cards provide support that is:

  • Empowering:  Families are given autonomy to shop for groceries of their choice, making decisions that best suit their circumstances.

  • Immediate: Cards can be distributed quickly in times of crisis or as ongoing support for individuals and families in need.

  • Flexible: Recipients can choose food items that meet their dietary preferences, cultural needs, and family size.

  • Stigma-free: Gift cards reduce the stigma associated with receiving food assistance, offering a discreet way to support individuals and families in need without drawing attention or judgement.

IN THE 2024/2025 YEAR

$71,615 provided in grocery support

Our holiday meals initiatives go beyond satisfying hunger; they promote community connection and cultural celebration for our participants and their families.

Providing home-cooked and culturally diverse meals for important celebrations such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Black History Month, National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, etc. give youth the opportunity to see their cultures represented, respected, and honoured within their larger community.
